Con babies!

Yes, they look cute, almost angelic;looking at Mummy and not Daddy and the camera, but pictures are deceptive...

The culprits, Miss Lily and Master Max, the crime: Teething or lack of.

The name implies at some point in time their will be actual teeth. but no. For four months, we've had the red cheeks, the inflamed gums, the chewing and the drool.Enough drool to require regular change of clothing, bibs and mummy's dressing gown. Of course, you have the chewing, more grinding of gums than chewing, nothing is safe. To add to the pain, family members ask ridiculous questions such as " Has the teething stopped?".  Stopped? It never started, there are still no teeth!

Then you get the nights with the red cheeks, the inflamed gums, the tears. slight fever with no sleep. Luckily we have had only a couple of nights when both twins went through this. Add to this the one visit to the doctor, to have confirmed that it was 'teething' and not some rare, fever inducing, red cheeked, gum inflaming virus.

Occasionally, there may be a raised ridge in the mouth, the promise of something, then nothing...

  1. Our girls took FOREVER to pop their first teeth and then pop-pop-pop-pop....

Thankfully, we never had any real discomfort issues but when they were a bit cranky, we used a wet towel that put in the freezer for a few hours...that seemed to help keep them happy.

    GOOD LUCK!

  2. There is a theory that says that the longer the teeth take to come out , the stronger the enamel . Can this be true? Some agree or disagree. As for my own experience , both my niece and nephews started teething when they were around 11 - 12. Wait and see...they will pop eventually :)

  3. Good luck with the "teething" my son did the same thing, teethed for months and months with no sign of teeth! It was hard enough with one, let alone two!!! I did the wet towel thing too......but I had visions of it getting stuck to his mouth and having to run him down to emergency with a frozen towel stuck to his gums! Lol!!!!
